In this work, Jackson lays down biblically the doctrine of eternity, and the importance of man’s never-dying soul that hangs in its balance. This being a fundamental point of Christian divinity, it should be “plainly proved, clearly explained, and powerfully applied to us.”
He explains what eternity is in the final four basic tenants of Christian doctrine, death, judgment, heaven, and hell.
How is a person sure to be saved? How can they build up the assurance of salvation and reject a profane life? What can they do to overcome sin and please King Jesus? These sermons all have a common thread running through them: to show you how to lay hold of salvation in Jesus Christ.
Softcover. Near fine. Cover slightly bowed from reading (no creases though).
To intimately know God is the substance of this work by Burgess. It is not only to know God as God has revealed his essence, but Burgess, as all good, practical preachers do, presses the reader to then take what they learn about God, and see how it necessarily links to practical truths, such as those necessary for salvation; to know God and to be saved by Jesus Christ.
Softcover. Very good. Clean & tight & unmarked. Sound bumping/creasing to upper corner of cover & text.
William Strong, A.M. (d. 1654) was an active Westminster Puritan and Calvinistic minister. "He was so plain in heart, so deep in judgment, so painful in study, so frequent, exact, and laborious in preaching, and, in a word, so eminently qualified for all the duties of the ministerial office, that he did not know his equal.”
Softcover. Near fine. Clean & unmarked. No underlining or highlighting. Mild shelf wear/handling.
This work on Practical Religion, which centers on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, was Kettlewell’s first work ever published and was eminently popular. Jeremiah Burroughs (1599-1646) was an esteemed Reformed minister, and one of the divines of the Westminster Assembly.
This work concerns the men of the world in contrast to God’s people in the Covenant of Grace. Worldly men mind earthly things which are temporary. This is their portion, and ultimately their demise. The people of God have their inheritance in Jesus Christ which is presently sealed by the Spirit while they live on earth, but given in its fullness in heaven.
Softcover. Like new. Text is clean & tight & unmarked. Slight bumping to lower corner of front cover.
This work really needs no introduction; it would be enough just to let Rev. Doolittle loose on your soul. It is a puritan gem, few of which exist and have been republished in this format.
Softcover. Like new. Text is clean & tight & unmarked. Mild shelf wear; fine scratch at top of back cover. 134 pages.

He was an active member of the Westminster Assembly, and distinguished himself in defense of Presbyterian polity, in contributing to the joint conciliatory work known as Smectymnuus. During this time, Calamy was an influential evangelical preacher, with a ministry throughout England, including being present during the dreadful fire of London in 1666.
