Hardcover. Fair. Glasgow: Francis Orr & Sons (1842). 6 3/4 x 4 inches. Full black leather with decorative gilt on both boards and spine. Marble paste downs. Previous owner's name written on ffep. Brief notes on rear end page. Rear hinge fully intact, but front board & spine completely detached. Front board attached to book with several pieces of clear tape (please see photo). Moderate edge/corner wear to cover. Text block is sound and all pages accounted for. Pages yellowed with age, but the only foxing (mild) is noted on the end papers.
Original full leather calf binding with gold banding in very good supple condition with some edge wear and rubbed corners, but the hinges and textblock are very strong. Some cracking along spine in back. Internally clean with browning and spotting. Decorative headers, initials and endpieces throughout. Previous owner signature of Jacob Treadwell.
